SYSNET International participated at the First Annual Open Source Health Information Exchange Symposium in Rwanda. The symposium brought key open source health software communities together to collaboratively create and deploy an integrated eHealth system for the Rwandan Ministry of Health. This initiative will greatly strengthen Rwanda’s health system supported by a robust health information system infrastructure. By being developed collaboratively and made freely available, OpenHIE will enable Africa to mitigate the traditional challenges associated with re-engineering proprietary and stand-alone systems to create an effective shared electronic health record.

The four-day workshop, 24th – 27th September 2012, hosted by the Rwanda Ministry of
Health (MoH) and Jembi Health Systems focused on the outstanding RHEA work done-to-date, getting a preview of the Live Demo walk-through, and lastly to workshop and map the road ahead – towards achieving the ultimate “dream” – Better Health care for Rwanda through technology!

SYSNET International has also joined the partnership of companies and organizations that are working together on building the OpenHIE. SYSNET International will be providing the  client registry component which will be using SYSNET’s open source
software, OpenEMPI.
